So I bought a 2001 Honda civic. Used. It's my first car. Paid half up front went to drop off a check the next day with insurance so they could register and they now are claiming they found something wrong with the car while preparing it but won't say what and are claiming they are just gonna sell it at auction cuz if they repaired it they'd make no profit in the sale. Think they sold it twice. I have a bill of sales signed. What can i do??

Nothing! Look for another car, because you can't make them fix it! (This is a typical dealer)
ADDED: They are supposed to prepair the vehicle BEFORE it goes out on the line!
What can you do?? WTF??!! NOTHING! Why in the F&*K would you want to buy a car that has an issue?! Does that make sense to you? That's just stupid.
"Think they sold it twice"?! BS! It has an issue, so they are sending it to an auction. It happens. We take cars in on trade every day. If I have someone come look at a car BEFORE it gets serviced, I always tell them "hey, as long as it checks out ok, then we'll sell it for $______.__. If not, we will send it to an auction".
Stupid question. Why would you want the car anyway? It has a service issue that is too expensive for them OR YOU to fix. Count your blessings and move on with your life. Sweet Jesus that stupid things that get asked on this forum.
"I have a bill of sales signed."
So, what's your point? Be glad they don't force you to take it BECAUSE of the signed bill of sale. I think you're too stupid to buy a car.
There are hundreds of 01 Civics in your area. Find another one and move on with your life.
Are you kidding me?
You found an honest dealer willing to go out of their way to protect your consumer rights and your first idea is to 'sue sue sue'!?
If karma exists, next time they should just let you buy the car and you end up on the side of the highway 3 days later with no warranty, no car worth anything and a huge repair bill.
If the car is gone, its gone. It wasn't legally yours. The dealer still owned it. All you did was put a down payment to hold it.
Since you never took possession of the car, the contract is not fulfilled. Get your money back and go someplace else.
You would have a legal case if the dealer does not refund your money. That's all you have. No car = no legal right to it.
then you should get your check back as there was no deal. No harm no foul. where is the check? start looking somewhere else and blow off this cheap as dog poop dealer.
You get your deposit back. That's all.
Its just tough noogies.
call a lawyer
or offer to sell it back to them for 3 times what you paid
call the police tell them they stole your car
move on,,go shopping,,,
