"Lighthouse" may be the best for your friend but the worst for you. Most if not all insurance companies offer either a 6 month or a 1 year policy. Pay in full for the longest term offered. It is always more expensive to pay monthly. I would NEVER get involved in a monthly payment scheme.

Paying a 6 month insurance premium is quite common. However, the most common pay cycle is monthly. I have been paying for my vehicle coverage every 6 months for years. It just suits me best. All insurance providers generally allow their customers to pay either monthly, quarterly or biannually.

Lighthouse agency suck get away from them ,I live in Long island too, I had auto insurance from them long time ago, why don't you go GEICO check online you will be known how much you pay for ,they bill every 6 month and you can set up autopay by your checking account or debit- credit card .
