ok... this week I just had a new motor put in my car (a 1995 Lumina) and now a ball joint went out and I need to get a new hose replace... should I just buy a new car or keep it and keep fixing the things that go wrong on it?

it is over 10 years old , it will probably nickel and dime you, if you can afford it,invest in something with good gas mileage and something practical...maybe 2 years old , so you don't pay the hefty prices the new ones csot...
You obviously just invested a lot of money into getting a new engine. The car may be an older model but getting a new ball joint together with the $ you have already spent is still going to be MUCH MUCH CHEAPER than a new car with payments! You should be sure that if you do decide to trade it you get back at least the money you just dumped into it minimum! I got a new car last year the day after I paid my old car off! DUMB - now I am stuck with huge payments on a used car and I am dumping $ into it and it isn't as good as my old car. I realize that I would have been better off putting the money from the payments I have now into fixing up my old car and saving the money! Good Luck!
If you can afford to buy a late model used car, buy one.
Once things start going bad on a car, it's like a snowball rolling down hill. The problems only get bigger.
If i were you i will buy a new car, you will spend more money like that.
That happened to my sister, she have spend so much money on this car, i told her to sale and get a nice one.
