car problems?
have any of you had a problem with your gas pedal sticking and the car just keeps on going by itself. I have taken it back to the dealership but they seem to cannot find anything wrong with it. I will shut the car off going down the road and pull over and restart it and its okay. but this has been 3 times in the last 10,000 miles it has happen to me. so I was wondering if anybody else have had problems with equinox's made by chevrolet newer models?

next time you take the car t0o the dealership give them IN writing all of the things going wrong with it...i also have a Chevy with @ 5,000 miles on it and have been having problems (none related to urs) Ive been told that you can get a lemon car..which falls under the lemon law....also have a shopforman drive in the car with you until it does this...to prove to him that it really is sticking. if they do not fix the problem after several tried then u maybe entitled to a new vehicle under the lemon law....go to the link below and read about what all you can do
The first thing to check is your floor mat on the driver's side. if the mat comes loose the accelerator can get caught on the mat and not release. That's usually the "cause" when a problem is as intermittant as you report, particularly if the floor mats are not 'factory' mats.
If the vehicle has been to a dealership then they should have checked the throttle cable, linkage and for carbon in the throttle body that could cause the throttle plates to hang up. Typically if the problem is with any of those items you'll feel excessive resistance when you press on the accelerator like its hard to push it down. If the usual feeling is smooth and unrestricted then I expect that there isn't a problem with the linkage or throttle plates.
You don't mention the mileage on the vehicle. on older, high mileage vehicles there is the chance that a motor mount may be broken causing the engine to move more than it should and that could pull on the linkage to cause the problem, particularly under heavy acceleration. That is something that the dealer should have checked as well, particularly if you have high mileage.
My guess is that the problem is with the floor mat.

sometimes the throttle cable gets all "gummy". you might have to spray some gum cutter on the throttle body spring and idle adjuster. that is one of the causes of a stuck gas pedal.
