I believe that they are memories made up by your brain; your mind takes events that have happened to you (whether they were imagined, thoughts, or actual events) and plays them out as you sleep. what was the dream? i mean i know everyone has dreams that like happen within the moth or sometime near and you get deja vu.... but idk. i once had a vivid dream that our house was on a lake as a houseboat and burned down and we had to fly to Delaware to stay with my great-aunt. And unless i've gone REALLY disfunctional, i'm pretty sure that hasn't happened...

dreams can really get to youand have an impact on you because it feels real but honestly no, sometimes they do but it's RARE..and its never exactly how it was in a dream nless you're a phsycic... i always have dreams about the boy i like but i know they're not real since he likes my best friend..i used to hope they were but they're not..and waking up from a god deam kinda makes u sad how it wasn't real.
