No, that's wonderful, actually. It shows that you can look past the exterior and care more about the kind of person she is on the inside. Plus, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you find that beautiful, that's your personal preference. It also might show that you have a fear of being judged. If you have a girl who is on the softer side, she may be less likely to judge the way you look or your shortcomings. But again, that's just a possibility. If you love to see a girl laughing and smiling, I think it's totally awesome that you go against the norm for her.
