As far as I knew, Muslims around the world use the same naming system...
The father names was indicated in their sons name...For boys it will have a word 'bin' then plus the name of the father...For girls a word 'bin' is replaced by 'bt'....
The rational Muslims do this is to showing dignified to the father...The main thing in their naming system that concerned is as long as the name given bring a good meaning then it is approved to use that name...
I believe that they have "clan" names... As in their "last" names can be translated to either "daughter of ____" or "son of ____," and this trend continues. For example, a son would be "son of ____," and then his father's "sir-name" would be next, which is also translated as "son of _____." These names are normally connected through the father because of Islam's patriarchal structure.
Of course, I'm no expert on Islam or the naming system found within Muslim countries. I just know this from an ex-Muslim who grew up in Somalia and happened to be on the Colbert Report. ^^;
