okay this question is for snake experts so please dont answer if you dont know.
i have a sand boa. hes a little over a foot, and extremely sweet. ive had him for about 5 months and hes never bitten me. i know snakes open they mouth looking like they are "yawning" to hook and unhook their jaws. well he hasnt eaten for a few days ago , (i feed him about every week or two, he wasnt hungry i feed him well) and i sometimes i put him on the key board of my lap top while in on the internet and he just sits there. well about 10 tinutes ago he was just chill'in on my lap top like he usualy does and he opened his mouth as wide as it goes like he was yawning or something. then he just sat there. i wasnt going to bite me cuz my hand was no where near him and he has no reason to either. so my question is "do snakes yawn" maybe i woke him up?? i only had him out for a few minutes, and again, he is extremely sweet, has never bitten me, or ever tried to.

yes, snakes yawn. mainly to correct their jaws
Yes they do "Yawn" like you said they do this to stretch out the jaw muscles. I dont think you might of awoken him. But keep in mind also alot of open mouth behavior can be a symptom of a Respiratory Infection if you see him consistently doing this check the mouth area for saliva buildup, mucus from the nose, and wheezing hope this helps.
We have a ball python and it does the same type of thing. It sure seems like it's yawning.
