You put a track around your house and drive for hours. Nascar racing as well as any professional racing is a science marvel. It requires precision, timing, engineering, specs, statistics, calculations, weight distribution, Imagine driving 350 miles per hour with 20 other cars going the same speed. Try that in your back yard, and I think you will begin to understand. Nascar is a sport of immense proportion.
"Driving" is not a sport. "Racing" is a sport. Try driving around Watkins Glen at over 170 mph without running off the road. Try racing at Talladega 4 or 5 wide with you in the middle and not make any mistakes for 500 miles.
Nascar is a lot harder than throwing a football, or shooting a basketball or hitting a baseball. I could go on. Nascar is a sport. It's a motorsport.
You can all it anything you wish ! Don't matter to me ! I call most games that people call sports to be fantasy games. Take football....you give the smallest guy the ball and he takes off running, he gets knocked on his back side by a 300 ponder and sometime ends up under a dog pile of 300 pounders....he gets up, dances around with a smile and jogs back to do it all over again ...... that's fantasy for sure......it's a great illusion ! Is golf a sport ? Is bowling a sport ? Is synchronized swimming a sport ? How about darts ? Hell I know guys that consider drinking a sport !
But anyways you can call it what ya want.....I call it something fun to watch and never watch stick and/or ball sports !
Its defiantly a sport. Its more physically demanding then it looks, that why all the drivers are in pretty good shape. You trying driving around a track at 150 when its 100 degrees out

In response to the first post:
If a sport that uses motorized vehicles isn't a sport, I guess we can scratch golf off the list.
It's a sport by every definition of the word. Care to attempt to make one single good point as to why its not a sport?
I would call it a sport, if u know NASCAR u would know its a sport!
Of course its a sport.
Most definately! The drivers are SERIOUS athletes, and it's a competitive thing. I think that = a sport.
