Or would you rather see your rival team disappear from the face of the Earth? The Avalanche were my Wings biggest rival a while ago. I hated playing against them. But when the Av's started slowing down and declining I realized how much I missed hating them whenever we played them. Maybe I did respect them after all. The same goes for the other long time rivals of my Wings team (Blackhawks and Maple Leafs). Do you respect your enemy? Or do you just down right despise them?

I'm a die hard Blackhawks fan. I feel our biggest rival right now is the Red Wings. Do I respect them as a team? Absolutely. They are at the level I hope the Hawks can be at soon. Have never chanted "Detroit Sucks" at a game unlike many other Hawks fans. Sucks? At what winning Cups??? I wished the Hawks sucked as bad. When we play them though I want the Blackhawks to pound them...Attended the Blackhawks convention this past weekend and got to meet Tomas Kopecky( former Wing now signed with the Hawks). He was asked by a fan to lead the crowd in a "Detroit Sucks" chant. He politely refused and said that would be very unprofessional...Ya I respect that team...
I respect them. I'm a Rangers fan and although I hope the Rangers crush the Flyers, Devils, and Islanders, I can also respect the teams and give credit where it is due. Although, my least favorite team will always be the Maple Leafs and I don't know if I respect them...
Also, Patrick Roy is my favorite player of all time and because of that, I've always had a soft spot for the Avs. I remember back in the day when that rivalry was HUGE and I miss it. Those were always exciting games, but that was back when both of those teams had all-star lineups. Unfortunately, that rivalry has declined drastically, but that was amazing back in the day, especially in the playoffs. But even though they were captains of rival teams, I've heard that Sakic and Yzerman are actually pretty good friends off the ice and respect each other immensely.
Being a Pens fans, I respect both the Flyers and the Capitals, I know I'd hate it if either team began declining and got to the point where playing them was just an easy W.
I respect the Flyers, definitely. They're a strong hockey team with deeply loyal fans. I also think the Wings are a big rival of the Penguins, and how can you not respect them? They're such a talented team with classy players and classy fans (knowledgeable, as well.) I can't see anything wrong with that.
I am a Pens fan so the Flyers are my biggest rival and I do respect them they are a good team with good players but when we play them I want to go to some of my Flyers fan friends the next morning and talk about how they feel about marc-andre fleury's shutout.
But yes I respect them.
I am a Red Wings fan, and i respect the Avs, Hawks, and the Pens, but when the Wings play then i hope the wings score 10 goal against them
I'm also a Devils fan and its hard to say I respect the Rangers because I hate them so much, but I don't think I'd want them to "drop off the face of the earth" because the rivarly games are too exciting, epecially when you get to see the cocky Rangers fans go home crying. But I do have to say I respect their effort, thats about it.
I'm a Bruins fan and I definitely respect the Canadiens. 25 Stanley Cups command respect.
Yes I respect the Flyers as an organization. Ramzia for best answer just because he typed in all caps lmao.
I respect the Habs but I'll never like them. Same with Ottawa, but less respect. But nothing beats a great rivalry.
