No, asia is big you know. Oriental asia would mean the eastern fringe of asia. That of course is not a very precise definition, but I would interpret this as Japan, Corea, China etc.
I guess... I mean, it is still technically wrong, since objects are Oriental and people are Asian.. BUT... I can understand if you use to term to discern between Middle Eastern, Arab and Indian Asians between the ones who look Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc etc.

It's a tautology yes, but people use it for clarification. I use Orientals, or East Asian to differentiate from what I call South Asians.
