My due date was 2 days ago and yesterday when my doctor gave me an internal exam I asked her if she thought I lost my mucus plug because I had noticed a large, clear, glob type material in my underwear a couple times... she told me once you begin dilating obviously you have lost your plug, or at least some of it, which is why you even begin dilating in the first place! However, the mucus plug does not stay out forever, it continues to rebuild for the protection of your cervix to keep out any chance of infection. SO although you have lost your plug, it may come back.

I have occasional contractions but not often enough to think I'm going into labor. I have also been 1-2cm dilated for the last almost 2 weeks!

Honestly only time will tell. I thought I had a lot of signs that labor was soon but time passed and nothing happened! lol

My due date was 9/30/08 and I been 1cm dilated for three weeks and still no sign of labor..Also I lost my mucus plug about 1 1/2 ago..

I have heard of women losing their mucus plug and not going into labor for another two weeks. There's no way of really knowing. You are only 1 cm dilated too - which means you could have a few days or even a week before you go.

well after losing your mucus plug you can go into labour anytime but sometimes it's not for a couple weeks...but you never know.

well i don't know much about that im pregnant with my first but a friend of mine just had her baby and she lost her mucus plug on thursday had the baby saturday afternoon..
