Programming the Transmitter

programmed transmitters will work. You must reprogram all of the transmitters once you are in the programming mode.

• You must complete steps 1–6 within 4 seconds of the previous step to keep the system from exiting the programming mode.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Press the “Lock” or “Unlock” button on one of the transmitters. (An unprogrammed transmitter can be used for this step.)

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

4. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 two more times using the same transmitter used in step 2.

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

6. Press the “Lock” or “Unlock” button on the same transmitter. Make sure the power door locks cycle to confirm that the system is in programming mode.

7. Within 10 seconds, press the “Lock” or “Unlock” button on each transmitter. Make sure the power door locks cycle after you press each transmitter button to confirm that the system accepted the transmitter’s code.

8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit the programming mode.

if the remote still doesn't work, then the remote is worn out and will have to be replaced. If you have a spare (the cars came with two when new) just go through the programming mode above and use the spare. If you only have one, you'll have to buy one at a honda dealer. If it comes down to buying a replacement, then that replacement will have to be programmed using the above procedure. since you're buying one there, you can ask the dealer to program it for you; most will do it at no charge.

ok so u said the switch on the drivers door isn't working right?have you checked the pass door? if it works diff then there is a problem that a dealer needs to check. if it's the same then the remote is not the problem, there is something wrong with your lock system, most likely it is a ground issue, if you are technically savvy and adventurous, there are 2 wires connected to that switch one unlocks one locks, i can't remember whether the switch is part of the plastic handle assembly, if it is: then try this remove that piece(should be just one phillips screw under a plastic cap) take a piece of wire and connect it to one of the metal pins in the plug, and the other end of the wire, hold on to it and try tapping it to a bolt on the end of the door or the door latch. this should trigger the locks, if it doesn't the try another bolt, if it still doesn't work then there is something else going on, and you'll have to have it checked out by a dealer or auto electronics specialist. one last thing sometimes on hondas that old the alarm and keyless entry systems were only avail as dealer ad ons, which means they have a separate brain somewhere in the vehicle, like under drivers dash or under the front seats. that piece also may need to be regrounded or it may just have gone bad
