As the question says. When you go online to GEICO based on the information you provide they give you a quote. You can then purchase it on the spot. How do they get this quote? Do they run a CLUE report right away?
I ask for 2 reasons. What if you unknowingly left some details out about your driving history? I remember i got an online quote and i called GEICO to purchase it over the phone and after they ran the CLUE report they gave me a cheaper quote
My friend went onto GEICO when he was looking for a cheaper insurance rate and it quoted him $150 a month online. For whatever reason instead of buying it he called GEICO and asked for a clue report because he wanted to know what was on his drivers record. After they pulled his CLUE they re-quoted him at $275 a month. Would he have been able to get the $150 if he kept his mouth shut?
Update:This wasn't a case of dishonesty. I was just wondering how online quotes were given and the first response answered my question. My friend gave all of his information correctly and was given a $150 online quote. After he himself requested a CLUE report the quote was lifted to $275 because he had injury claims paid out on a claim for a passenger in his vehicle. However on the online quote it only asks for accidents and over/under 1,000. It doesn't ask for injury claims.

They run the report after you are signed up. If you provided wrong information during sign up then they adjust the rate later. My friend failed to mention a few traffic tickets during the sign up and a few weeks later they just canceled him all together. They refunded most of his money except for the three weeks he actually had insurance.
So if you provide correct information during sign up then there is no problem. If you lie or forget something they will figure it out soon and make the correction.
They will give you a price based on the info that you'll give them.

No way, they can drop you of the insurance at any time to correct a mistake.
They can refuse to renew your policy when the six months is up.
Be honest with your information, because it will just hit you later when your six month renewal is due.
