my 2004 civic just had a transmition rebuilt. but when I press gas it jerks the shop said it need a new battery .
That is silly.
If the engine cranks over and starts, the battery is fine.
Once the car is running, it does not even use the battery any more.
But transmission are electric these days, so a bad alternator could effect it.
However, that is unlikely.
I would have another shop take a look, for a second opinion.
It sounds to me like the transmission is not right yet.
The car won't start with a battery problem. Your car starts.
It's probably a transmission problem, especially if it is the transmission shop saying you need a battery. They don't want to admit any mistakes.
