hey for all the people that think they are preppy some of the things i say is going to prove that you are not. for one thing i like in Buckhead Atlanta go to a private school and i see myself as a true prepme and my sister wear,Polo, lacoste, Prada,J.Crew, Lilly, Juicy coture, designer jeans that sell for no less than $150 a pair, North Faces,cute loafers and slides, Rainbow sandals,and only shop at Neiman and Saks as we like to call them. Preps also do not wear loads of make-up, we like to keep our look simple and natural looking without overdoing it. We preps attend either East coast boarding schools or go to elite private schools near our homes and then ususally end up going to top of the line colleges, not because we are smart enough, but because our parents are either a member of the board of trustees or are willing to donate large sums to our desired school. Us preppy girls do not appear to be sluts becasue we dress so conservative and sweetly, but ask any private school boy and they will tell you that the parties (that kids throw on weekends when their parents go to some tropical island for their monthly trip)are filled with tons of alcahol and are spent at enormous lavish homes are crazy. And yes, although the good majority of us may have an eating disorder, who cares? at least we look good. All preps either play tennis, lacrosse, squash, field hockey, golf, ride, sail, or are on the crew team. We vacation on Cape Cod (the rich, nice parts), Nantucket, or Martha's Vineyard. We usually get cars when we turn sixteen, many driving BMW's, Mercedes, Audis, and Volvos. We go on many vacations and have been to more countries in Europe and Islands by the age of 18 than most people will ever go to in their whole life time. Not all preps are ditzy, we are often very focused on our school because good grades is also a part of the on going competition to out-do each other. And not all of us preppy girls are blonde, although a good majority either are or dye their hair. Boy preps are usually laid-back and have shaggy hair that they NEVER gel and do not wear jewlery other than sailor's not bracelets or livestrongs, but those are like sooo last summer. Being a prep is a lifestyle, just becasue you may wear polo or own a Burberry scarf but dont go to the country club or play lacrosse means that you would not meet the standards of most true preps across the country, or at least on the East Coast.Real preps for one thing do NOT wear clothes from Hollister, Abercrombie, or American Eagle. If they did wear those brands then they would be made fun/looked down upon by their other prep friends. First you ahve to be preppy to say something about preppy people. i dont consider myself regular, but not outstanding, i am preppy, my whole family is preppy, we dont drive the worst cars, but not the best, we buy all our clothes from online sites like, ralph lauren, lacoste, ect. become preppy first! dont overdue it when you are trying to be preppy. wear bright colors try to stand out. its a difference in being different and being abnormal, dont walk into a all black attire party wearing red. be normal, be specific, be yourself and be different. for one being preppy is not about the clothes or the look its about personality, but 50 to 75 percent is aobut the look. and to be preppy you dont have to be rich but you have to have a little extra cash, for beginners spend 60 dollars on one shirt and build you way up. when you are preppy you get the best feeling you ever got when you walk into a room everyone eyes turn and you feel great. you are constantly checked out by guys and girls, guys will say look at that stupid preppy boy and they will talk about you but that are really hating. girls will say liook at him hes so well dressed and nice looking and they guys will dissagree. dont be full of yourself but dont be trashy. preppy, preppy, preppy, one of the best looks in high school. beings preppy will make some of the most ugliest girls and guys look great. i'm not ugly and my clothes arent either. but if your looking for a new beggining a new style and a new way to go, preppy is the way, look good, feel good and be good, now attitude is a different story!?

Preppy Style: -collared shirts are one of the preppy clothing staples, don't wear a collared shirt that is too tight or form fitting though -cardigans go great with just about anything, it doesn't really matter what color it is in, but it looks great especially over a collared shirt -you are better off with wearing flats than high heels they are much more preppy looking and make more of a statement -try to dress in brighter colors, but stay away from neon colors at all costs. Try going with peachy, coral, baby blue colors. -corduroys, khakis, leggings are fine, but jeans and sweat pants are definitely not preppy -if you have any little statement necklaces or bracelets they might be able to complement the outfit and help you accessorize it -scarves are very preppy over a sweater and there are a lot of cute scarves that would make the outfit look preppier -I would either leave your hair down and in a headband (a lot of preps tend to wear their hair like this) or you can put it up into a very neat and tidy bun -Try a pink lipgloss or lipstick -don't wear anything with words on it because preppy people usually don't show brand names or anything along that line I hope I was able to help you out! Unfortunately, you can't just decide to be preppy.

Being preppy is part of a bigger lifestyle, and one that you're born into at that. It involves summering on the Cape, going to a prep school (hence the name), knowing how to sail, and coming from an old-money New England family.

The style of dress just goes along with everything else - nice, classic refined. Oxfords and Lily dresses, nice things. We enjoy making fun of anyone wearing Hollister, especially those that think it's for "rich" people, and that the clothes are "totally expensive." Come on over here to Exeter if you don't believe me =]
