A piece of the sealing strip came up from my winshield today, and I was wondering if there was an easy way to reseal it myself, or if I should call a professional service to do this for me.
id let a pro do it if you break it the insurance company wont cover it,and glass breaks real easy ,the glass in the newer cars is a lot thinner than in the older ones and it doesn't take much to break it,good luck.
Get yourself a tube of "Seal-all" liquid that is used specifically for this type of problem you should find this at a CTC store or at a local windshield replacement dealer. Use a little at the time as it dries tacky
and hard in 12 hrs. repeat the procedure if you have to.
Do as wide and as far as you can over and beyond the old covering.
When I have this problem, I clean the area of concern and applied 100% silicone sealant applied the same way as if I were applying latex caulking material with a caulk gun. Clean the excess material right after applying.
use some sort of water proof epoxy. go to a parts store and see what they recommend and they will have advice that people cant explain over the internet.

What a terrible short cut. Have them remove the windshield and replace the seal.
DO NOT use Silicone it will cause rust in the future. Use only poly- urethane u can buy one from your local auto glass shop for like $10

Go to autozone and get a tube of Black 'silicone gasket maker', that will do the trick!
