You are both screwed.
Here's a thought....pay your bills. Sell what you must and live within your means.
History in my parents life tells me differently. When one files and even of they take on all the responsibility the creditors are go g to come after the other spouse HARD and for YEARS. And YES it affects the other spouses credit score. Don't believe the "manual". It's gonna suck for about 9 years afterwards.
What a bunch of bad answers.
Bankruptcy only effects the accounts in the persons name that is filing period. Now if you have joint accounts they will show as included in bankruptcy of another person and that person will then be totally responsible for the accounts.
Their debts are yours only applies if you live in a community property State.
Good luck.
You're married?...his debts are your debts. Too bad. And filing won't eliminate his debt. It will just make it manageable, all the while ruining both your credits.
It will impact your credit score, especially if any of the debt was gained jointly.
