It takes a day or two for money to go from paypal to the bank. Your desperate friend may have to wait, or seek another donor.

You have to wait until your account has the money before attempting a transfer. It takes PayPal 24 hrs to process the transfer before it will be accessible to the other party.

It can take anywhere between 2 - 3 days if you use your bank account. If you use your debit card, it occurs instantly. I wouldn't take the risk either way though.
