How is LACOSTE compared to Prada or Gucci?

Planning to get some LACOSTE white polos for summer in Australia. Not sure if the brand name is as good as the other two, just wondering where it stands in the market, or, in people's mind? Or simply just what will you think of it if you see me wear a LACOSTE polo.

whenever i see people in "designer clothes" I think one of the following.

1. They must be in debt beyond control for spending so much on a clothes

2. Don't they care that people are starving in the world. They could have fed an entire village in southeast asia with the cost of that outfit. How heartless can people be.

3. Do they really have that horrible sense in style that they are relying on a designer to tell them what to wear.
