My Hyundai's check engine light goes on and off. The car runs fine other then it running a little ruff from time to time. We think it's either the vacuum lines or the O2 sensor but is there a way to know for sure without having to pay huge money for it to be pin pointed by a mechanic?
We are leaning more towards the O2 sensors.
oh and the light also seems to go on (if it even does) after the gas tank hits the half mark.
--what would the price ranges be to get this fixed?
And is it bad to drive if either of these problems aren't fixed right away?
Thanks

If you are trying to save money you are going about it all wrong. Throwing parts at this problem is going to cost more time, money, and frustration. If the check engine light is on, the obvious thing to do would be to have the codes read and go from there. If it turns out to be an emissions related part they are covered by a federally mandated warranty that is longer than your basic warranty, so the dealer could end-up fixing this for free! I would highly recommend taking it to the dealer (find one with good HSI scores, Hyundai may be able to tell you the highest rated dealer in your area). Some parts stores will scan it for free, but I can assure you they will not know your car like I do.
If you get an actual DTC from the code scan I could actually help you...
Good luck!
