If you like animals, try the local Human Society, or any non-kill animal shelters. Most towns have a Community Center, and they always need help with the many services they provide. Nursing homes are lonely for a lot of the old folks residing there, and volunteers often come in to read to, or just talk with the residents. You could even phone the local community theatre, and ask if they need any backstage help for upcoming shows (thats a LOT of fun). Food banks, hospitals, the zoo, churches, Meals on Wheels...theres a lot of possibilities, just check the phonebook or go online.
