It may be possible to do what the people above me said.
I recommend you contact the games publisher. Activision will replace circular scratched games. Not all publishers will though.
The circular scratch is caused when you bump an Xbox360 while the laser is reading a disc. It is basically burned in. In my opinion it would not be able to be buffed out like a scratch is.
Sounds to me like your friend owes you a new copy of the game.
Other than the first answer there is no real way to sort it out. You can get it replaced for a much cheaper rate officially by Microsoft though. Visit here for more info: http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-360/disc-drive/...
Go onto www.xbox.com first then once the page has loaded check the website address. As an example, in my address is says en-GB: http://live.xbox.com/en-GB/Home When going on my very first link, make sure that the part of the address matches what is on the Xbox.com homepage. If your from America it will say en-US.
To the person below me: Halo: Reach is published by Microsoft Game Studios and the link is gave is exactly that.
Go have the disc buffed out...any electronics store will sell a CD/DVD scratch remover kit for like $30 or something like that, or your local game store might do it for something like$2-5 depending on where you go.
Apart from the previous answer, there is really nothing to do. Just be more careful on who you loan your stuff out to. In the future install your games to your HDD so it doesn't have to read all the data from the disc.
