I have a 2001 Honda prelude. I have a bunch of performance upgrades including a short ram intake. I want to use some sort of rubber tubing to route air directly to my filter, kinda a home made ram air. Doesn't need to be perfect, just a project. And please don't suggest a CAI. I'm looking for a project.

you can use a thousand dift types of tubing you can find at home depot including vacuum cleaner, ducting, swimming pool , or you can buy tubing for intakes that is flexible at the auto parts store. or you can use pvc . you want the biggest diameter that is practical and you may have to reduce it at the air box. you can do it fancy or just use duct tape to seal it. who cares and why not. there is one gotcha on this modification and that is to make sure that when it rains the water does not make it up into your air box and drench your air filter because your engine is going to stall immediately. maybe you can solve this by having an upward bend in the tubing with a u shape before the air enters the air box. if you mount the tube intake low on a bumper or low front spoiler you will pick up road water for sure. also, you can buy the shape of platic inlet for the tubing you want on-line even on ebay . and another way to do this is to go to the u pull it and find everything you need off another car and fabricate using other cars intake tubing and extending it.
