Poirot is my favourite
The B/W Miss marple with Margaret Rutherford.
Midsomer Murders
Lewis.
I liked Rocky and Jessica but I consider those more 'entertainment' that detective.
You missed Basil Rathbone as Sherlock.
It sometimes takes a while before I recall the plot and the culprit depending the number of times I've watched it
Poirot is always a favourite but only with David Suchet.loved Rockford Files but haven't seen any repeats for some years.
Never got to grips with Frost as I always expect David Jason to be in something funny.
Rebus is very good too as the programmes are so true to the books, all of which I have read more than once.
When watching repeats we do sometimes forget we've seen it before or else make a point of watching one just because we enjoyed so much the first time
I like 'Murder She Wrote,' but mainly the ones set in Jessica's hometown. Don't care for her adventures in other locales.
I never did care for 'Miss Marple,' neither the books, nor the films.
I like the Poirot books, but not the films.
I'm not familiar with 'Midsomer Murders,' 'Morse,' 'Lewis,' or 'A Touch of Frost.'
I like 'Rockford Files,' and watched them every week, when the shows were new.
I like 'Monk.'
I miss watching reruns of the 'Columbo' series. Being over an hour long, they could get draggy, but I love them.
Wow, I guess I haven't watched too many of them. My husband likes to watch Monk. Did you see Murder on the Orient Express? I really liked that movie, but seeing Albert Finney as Poirot was a shock to me because up to that time he had just been a handsome leading man!
FQ - I've seen lots of programs in repeats where I didn't remember the ending, but there are some old situation comedies (Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Cheers) which I can quote line for line.
I have this really annoying thing happen when I watch an old tv show. I'm not sure I saw it-until the last few minutes. Then I burst my own bubble.
Loved Murder She Wrote
Madly inlove with Poirot
Still in love with James Garner.
Wish there were more like them today.
I'm of the same opinion as Account Closed.
I simply have no patience for 'who-dunnits.' Of the list you furnished, Morse was just about watchable and the only reason I watched that was to see if He slipped up (with his accent) cos He first made His name in a very early T.V. police series about The Flying Squad called 'The Sweeny.'. John Thaw was broad London Cockney in that, as was Dennis Waterman and they both 'graduated' to more posher roles with posher accents. Mind you, He also had a very respectable career in Radar and Shakespearean plays too. He died of cancer in 2002, after a lifetime of heavy smoking and drinking.
I like all the ones from the top down until you get to Morse on down. I haven't seen them.
FQ: sometimes, but not of the Murder she wrote. Those came on t.v. at a time I was able to sit and watch a show without kids blasting around the house.
I liked Murder She Wrote
Matlock
Diagnosis Murder
Rosemary And Thyme
Inspector Lynley is my first choice. PBS is now offering the Inspector Lewis series.
FQ - Not only do I sometimes forget who dunnit, I sometimes don't even remember opening scenes from tv programs or movies. This is not something new. It has been happening for years.
I especially enjoy the documentary type shows that are on now. 48 Hours, Stalked, Disappeared. But the old ones? The Rockford Files were my favorites!
