My car makes a knocking noise when accelerating from 1st to 2nd gear and from 2nd to 3rd gear. It doesn't do it every single time, but almost. It's a noise that just sounds like one knock and it comes from the front of the car. I drive an 04 Mazda 3i, automatic. It also makes other funny knocking noises when i'm turning or going over bumps. The noises are different from the ones when i'm accelerating. Also the other day when I started my car and put it in reverse, the car made a loud grinding noise, i got scared and turned it off and restarted it... it did it again. Hasn't done it since. Any ideas??

Grinding noise, Bad starter relay, bad gear on starter or flywheel (Mechanic)
something could be dragging under the car or either that or yer clutch is starting tofall apart. i suggest u get it checked soon. The clutch could break anytime. it would be really dangerous specially out on the highway.
