My Dr suggested one to me as I was 35 4 days before my baby was born. She told me all the risks involved...such as 1 in 200 women miscarry after an amnio. I declined to have one. Talk to the Dr and see if it is absolutely necessary...if not...then I'd pass

For many reasons, which are too many to list, I think that it is a good idea to have it done. Basically, it is best to be prepared incase anything goes wrong. Most often they find that nothing is wrong, which will put you at ease. It will be good to know, you can relax when you know. If anything is wrong it will be hard at first, but there will be decisions to be made and they must be done even if you don't want to. The sooner the better, this way you have all your options.

Even if you find out that something is wrong, it doesn't mean that you have to have an abortion. You may find that there is complications, but they are something that you can deal with and live with. This way, you will have the rest of your 21 weeks to prepare and get ready. It will be easier for you to slide into your new life with your new baby this way. It's just like getting ready for any baby, there are things you need to learn and things you need to buy and have ready for the day the baby is born.

Good luck, and focus on getting ready for the baby. You will do what is best. Just have faith that everything will work out the way that it is supposed to.

I found out. If I were you, I would find out, too. I understand that what he said upset you, but if the results show something, it doesn't mean you have to abort if you don't want to. I would still want to find out so that if there is something wrong, you can be prepared for it when the baby comes. If there's some kind of equipment you would need to buy if the baby has special needs, then you would want to know so that you could have it when the baby comes.

yes i ah the test done with my second child i was so nervous but it had to be done lucky the results were ok but its something they only say u need to have done if they are concerned i suppose in a way it is better knowing and make up your mind if you want to carry the child thn having a shock when the child is born and not knowing what to do at least you could be prepared. but i do hope all will be ok good luck

It is better to be safe than sorry, I almost had one done with my last pregnacy, but, the drs, felt that she was doing fine, I had Gestational diabetes with my last baby, all we did is done ultra sounds every 2 weeks and I saw th dr every week from 12 weeks til delivery, my daughter was healthy and 7 pounds !!!!! good luck

If you truly don't want to know, then don't have one. I think doctors push amnios because THEY want to know (to avoid a difficult birth). If you know in your heart that you want the baby no matter what then I say don't have one.

By the way, I had an amnio (because of my age) and I had complications from it. Would I do it again? I don't think so.
