Bladder cancer is one of the cancers that can tend to relapse, even if the initial surgery removed the entire tumor. The treatment would depend on where the cancer has come back and what kind of surgery she had initially. If she didn't have her entire bladder removed and it has relapsed in the bladder wall again, a radical cystectomy (complete removal of the bladder) may be necessary. Usually folks may need to wear a pouch on the outside, or large surgery centers can construct a neobladder to allow them to urinate more naturally. Because bladder cancer is relatively rare, and the surgery may be complicated, she should go to a major cancer center for treatment. Also depending on the stage of the cancer, chemotherapy maybe important as well. Radiation therapy is usually not a part of treatment for bladder cancer unless in special cases.
Probably chemo and radiation.Did they remove her entire bladder??? If not possibly surgury. I guess a full workup is in order, cat scan pet scan etc... to see what they are dealing with. good luck
If she needs to have her bladder removed than they can do amazing things now, trust me i know i no longer have one and i also dont have a bag on the outside, its inside and i am alive. good luck to her.
The best way to handle it is to be supportive, and talk positively..Unfortuneately, Re-occuring cancers are not good.
Let her oncologist make the decisions, not a group of laymen.
