When did you get your braces tightened? If it was recently (within the past couple of days) it is completely normal for the area to be sensitive and you'll just have to deal with it for now, it will past. If it has been sore for longer than a few days then it might be best to speak to your dentist, he might have made your braces too tight. Help this helps!!
I just asked my daughter (14) this question and she was in the same position. She said: It will take about a week to go away. Try to chew freedent gum (I know the dentist said don't chew gum, but this gum is okay because it's for dental issues, like braces). Don't try other gum because it will get stuck in your braces. My daughter also said, every time you go to the dentist it will feel this way again, so hold tight.
oh don't worry my mom is a manager at a dental office and I also had braces the first week waz horrible I hated it I cried a lot I'm 13 and now I have my braces off and my teeth and perfect but don't think this is the most horrible thing about braces just wait till later
I got my braces off last year and I hated getting them tightened. Even if I wear my retainer it feels like my teeth are going to fall out. They wont fall out tho. Just keep taking tylenol and next time make sure you take a something before the adjustment. i was always in less pain if i took something before it actually happened. Just remember, your teeth are going to look amazing when they're off!
I know it's horrible huh? I used to hate getting mine tightened. I used to like chewing some gum, try to get Wrigleys Freedent so it doesn't stick to your braces. It used to help my teeth feel a little less sore and helped them get stronger again quicker (especially since I'm always eating with my diabetes) Keep having your Nurophen/Nurophen Plus too.
Hope this helps
Oh my gosh, I know exactly how you feel. I have had almost 3 years of braces, and I have gotten used to the pain now, but the best thing to do is to just wait it out.... sorry, but that's my secret. Go and watch ur favorite movie, and make urself a slushie or something really good to eat, or just go to sleep. it helps.
GOOD LUCK W/ UR BRACES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have braces and know what your talking about...your tooth is prob not off. it is loose so that the teeth can move but after a week it will go away!
hope you feel better!
Mine feels the same way after a tightening. Ive had mine since April 2008. Nothing really helps except taking a nap and forgetting about it.
I have braces aswell. My orthodontist explained to me how they work. He told me if they hurt to drink something cold, it helps the wire loosen a little. It will make it feel a bit more comfortable. I hope it works for you.
Just think of how nice your teeth will look after braces!
I had braces... and the pain is so worth it! ^^
