all forms of jumping will aide you ,
I actually recommended this exercise to somebody with a similar question.
Aside from using something like a weighted vest, calf raises are by far the best way to increase your vertical.
I do them every day.
Here's how you can start (this is the pattern I use).
Start with 30, then do 20 then do 10...once you get comfortable, do 40, 30, etc. Once you get to about 100, start doing them on a step. Have a little more than half of your feet hanging off the step, and start doing the same pattern, although you may want to start with less.
I promise you, your vertical will be much better after several weeks.
Calf raises do help increase your calf strength, but not your vertical leap. Try using a low weight on a squat, and do weighted vertical leaps. This definitely will increase your leap height.
Do squats and power cleans a lot of Olympic weight lifters have verticals of over 40" and for a comparison Kobe Bryant has a 38" vertical.
you could also do frog jumps they help also...well you could do about 50...stop and then 50 more and keep goin on calf raises
