Did anyone know what's causing a car to drive backward but can not drive forward? Is it the transmission? It is a 1994 toyota Camry. I can drive backward but can not drive forward? Lots of people told me that it might be the transmission. I want to know if this is true and how much will it cost to fix? Thank you in advance for all the help!

It sounds like a transmission where the torque converter has burned up. That is definitely transmission issue, had this happen on a pathfinder and a 15 passenger van about a few days ago. Since my shop doesnt do transmission repairs, we sent it to a transmission place, and both were charged around $750.
Not sure if it will be close to that margin for you, but most of the time it will either require a new radiator if the cooler lines run through the radiator as well, or just transmission work if it has an external cooler for the transmission fluid.
Its the transmission. Depending on where you bring it, it may cost anywhere from $1300 up to $3000 if you bring it to the dealer.
