I had the ceramic ones as an adult and they are just a good as the metal. (I had metal on the lower and as a teenager)Kinder on your lips, and they look like you have a retainer on from far. The clear elastics that hold the wires in does stain with foods, but it isn't as noticable as you would think. As far as cost, my orthodontist had the same fees. And if you ask, they probably would change the elastics sooner if you needed too. Good luck!

Ceramics work, but they're more expensive. Your teeth still look like they have braces and the ceramic stains easily. Just get metal.. it sounds like you're almost done anyway. They probably won't be on long. Get day-glo ties! Match your outfits or holidays!

i had the ceramic ones. they are essentially clear, and you can get clear or colored rubber bands. be careful if you get clear rubber bands, because some foods can turn the color. so, i steered clear of chicken soup, because the yellow broth stained the bands. i believe the actual ceramic braces stayed clear, though. sometimes i would get white bands around the braces. if your parents can afford it, consider invisalin. you can take them out when you eat and they are clear.
