Hmmm... Philosophy prof. I am just guessing that he has a lot of books and reads a lot. A REALLY nice bookmark. Or a gift card to Borders Books (if in the US) would be nice. If he's a teacher, he drinks coffee. Is there anything coffee related he might like? Coffee beans (gourmet ones) or maybe a coffee grinder (if he doesn't have one already). Also, there are these great lamps out now that you can put on your desk that reduce eye strain. They are not like the regular bulbs or fluorescent bulbs. They actually minimize eye strain and increase mood. You could check your local Bed Bath and Beyond for these.

Dad's don't really want material things! They are happy with whatever you get him! Maybe you could give him a "coupon" for A One Free chance for you to clean his car! Or go out to lunch with him!
