If he's really "solid" confident of whom he is, he shouldn't change. But if he's really shallow and has esteem problems, he thinks more of what others think of him than what he thinks of himself... yes he may change. I hope it's the latter... (If he is not the the person you thought he was then find someone who appreciates you for who you are, and is confindent with whom he is.)

P.S. do you have a sister or brother that can sit with him while your on stage? While your performing he will need a chaperone to keep him informed whats going on. He shouldn't be sitting in the audience by himself. When your performance is over, you may want to take him out to a quiet place to realax and have a real date... I think he may want to spend time with you and not share you with a thousand other people.
