Well their measuring my mouth for braces on Monday, so I get them sometime within this week. I'm really scared, because my friends always tell me they hurt so much for the first few days. My friend even told me they hurt so much you want to rip your teeth out, and my other friend couldn't go to school one day because she was crying all day because they hurt so much. Do they really hurt like, more than anything?
Thank you cuz im only like 12 and im really scared.

Don't worry about them so much. I've had braces for about 2-3 years (still have them!). The first couple days when you get them on, sure it's a little painful, but it's bearable. Though, you'll probably be stuck having milkshakes and apple sauce for a day or two, which isn't that bad. After that it goes away. Besides your first time getting them on, the only time they'll hurt is when they change the wires, but it hurts a LOT less so there's nothing to worry about. It's not going to kill you.
Oh and just fyi, when you do get your braces you'll have to stay away from a lot of different foods. Don't chew gum, it'll screw up the process and you'll end up wearing your braces for longer. Also, having jawbreakers and other hard candy or foods can break the brackets or ruin the wire. Stay away from sticky foods, too.
But anyway, there's no reason to be scared. Honestly I was terrified, but afterwards relieved, because it wasn't as bad as I expected.
It does hurt the first few days, but not quite as bad as your friends described.
And even when it does hurt, so what? It tolerable and it goes away.
The first couple of days it hurts pretty bad. But after that they are fine.
i personally found that when they were putting the braces in, it doesn't hurt at all, infact i basically fell asleep!
after that, for a week or so, it did hurt, but you'll be able to handle it don't worry.
