i really want my septum pierced, i am not bothered by the pain i just want to know what to expect. like how much compared to a lip piercing?(i have snakebites) or on a scale of 1-10?
Septum piercings do not hurt much when done properly by an experienced piercer.
No it's not a cartilage piercing. This piercings is going through the ''sweet spot'' a specific spot between the two cartilages of the nose where there is ONLY soft skin.
Going through cartilage is the wrong way to get this piercing and this can only happen if the piercer is inexperienced.
If pierced the wrong way yes it can hurt a lot more but this is not going to happen if you choose a good piercer who you trust.
It's just a pinch that lasts at about 2 seconds. the pain stops automatically as soon as the needle is through. The only uncomfortable thing during this piercing is that the eyes water like crazy for a minute or so.
It's generally an easy piercing to heal and maintain without issues.
Most of the time septum piercings are not pierced through cartilage actually.
Piercings hurt, it's a needle going through flesh. Piercing pain varies from person to person (some people's lips will hurt more, some people's noses hurt more)
When I got my tongue pierced it was a lot more painful than my cheeks or septum, and tongue is usually fine for most people.
It will only last a few seconds, you won't even know til it's done, so just go for it, don't worry about the pain
It hurt more than a lip piercing, and hurt less than getting punched in the nose. To me, the pain was about a 4... however, I was braced for the worse. My friend's told me that they puked, had to be held down, and all kinds of other crazy stuff... So I was sweating it pretty hard. All in all though, it wasn't that bad :)
It's cartilage, so that will definitely hurt more than your snake bites. From what I've gathered, it doesn't hurt that bad when done properly. Some people have "sweet spot" there and it doesn't necessarily have to go through cartilage. I have a helix piercing myself. It didn't hurt that bad, so I can't imagine this one would.
