i do brush my labs teeth once a week, my roommates think im exaggerating, but i've seen dogs with bad mouth Hygiene habits, tartar build up, Stinky breath, green crust in their teeth... so i brush jazzy teeth with a little dab (like a lentil grain size) of tooth paste (i use regular paste, its not harmful if use a little bit, if use a big load then yes, it can be harmful to the dog)... she is 5 years, i have been doing it since she was a tiny puppy, she has no build up at all...

If you don't want to have a dog that has a breath that smells like a pot of sh*t mixed with some puke and crushed and fryed fresh rats then yes you should continue brushing your dog's teeths :)
I personally dont brush my dogs teeth, but i know people who do. I just buy treats that he chews and does pretty much the same thing as brushing their teeth.
we've always given my dog, dentastix as it does the same job as brushing their teeth and it seems more like a treat to the dog
You should be feeding your lab regularly with raw bones (especially large marrow ones), chicken frames and necks instead.
