I'm a 17 year old female who is a senior in high school. I'm wondering if I should be starting to email colleges regarding information and availability on their teams. I know a lot of my other friends are emailing colleges about the football or lacrosse teams, but is it necessary to do that for a sport that colleges consider a club?

I am a freshman in college this year and they have an equestrian team. You should email them asking how the team works at that specific college and ask if you could come by and talk to the coach and tour the facility. You should also ask if you could possibly take a lesson with the coach to let them have an idea on the way you ride. They will probably give some advice on what to work on in the next year so you have a better chance of making the team. Get you name out there!!!! Thats one thing I regret not doing! Also some colleges have summer camps, they are pricey but they may be worth it. Also you can always sign up for CPI (College prep invitational) and equestrian talent search so the college coaches can see you ride! Good luck in your college search!
Yes, definitely email the school. As a co-coach of my alma mater's equestrian team for my first year, I would definitely look forward to emails from any prospective students. It gives you an idea of what to expect when you go into college and gives the coach's an idea of what type of riders they should be expecting the next year.
Yes you should email them to get all of the information. Some schools give scholarships and you have to try out for the team.
