My husband and I recently moved in an apartment, we have lived here a little over a week. We moved our things in, then discovered a pretty bad flea problem. We have already cleaned and disinfected everything thoroughly, not for the fleas, just for the sake of cleanliness.
We got the place bombed, which I would like to never do again. Putting everything in safe places and putting it all back where it belongs once the bomb has settled is no fun, and neither is disinfecting everything again after working very hard for a week straight to do it already. The flea bombs didn't seem to do much good. Yes, it killed a lot of them, but there are way too many left behind... And with that many left behind, there are many, many eggs being laid.
We tried the bombs - no good. Tried diatomaceous earth, and borax, both helped but it doesn't seem to be a super effective means to getting rid of the fleas. It also is terrible once you vacuum it, with the dust cloud it leaves behind.
I would like natural, non-chemical remedies that truly are effective.
We live in Texas, a hot, humid climate. Just adding that because maybe it will help.
We have no pets, and we certainly aren't going to get one until this flea problem is gone. Our baby is expected to be here December 11, and we would like the problem to be gone well before then.
Thanks to all those who read this, and especially to those who take the time to help!!!

If you do not want to get the place sprayed, which would be the best thing to do. you can get mothballs and put a couple in your vacuum bag and vacuum the carpet every single day. The smell goes away pretty quickly. The moth balls will kill the fleas while they are in the bag or canister and they cannot get back out.
If you do not want to use moth balls, vacuum every single day and take the bag out and put it in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer until the next time you vacuum.
I worked for a home cleaning service down south and the moth balls was what they used in their vacuums.
