How do car rentals work?
So I plan on renting a car, but I really want to reserve it. Thing is, I won't have all the money until the day I have to leave..
Is the deposit due when you reserve it?
Or can I just reserve the car and pay for it when I go in to pick up the car?
Also, what all will I have to do if I don't reserve it the day I go pick it up? Just sign a few things or is it a long process?

Update:Wow ok um. I've been to the car rental place. My mother is putting everything in her name because she is the one driving me. And they said they'd take a debit card as long as it is ran my a major cred card name, which would be Visa in my case. And I obviously need the money to put in my bank account for them to take it out.

I am assuming from your detail that you or your mother do not have a credit card? If that is the case, you will have to pay a hefty deposit at the time of pick up. However, for most rental agencies there is no deposit necessary to make the reservation.
It really depends on the rental company. You reserve the car, when you go in they'll get all of your info and put the deposit on a c.c. Once you return the car then you decide if you want to pay the same c.c. or pay another method.
You'll need to be at least 21 years old, and have a major credit card. Sounds to me like you don't qualify on either score.
