I work at an hvac, electrical, & controls company and my job position is a parts runner usually all parts get paid $10/hr and since im new to this job and have never done anything like this before. At the time of hiring he asked me how much I was getting paid at my last job (dish washer at a buffet) I said min wage so he offered me $8.75 for 30 days then $9 from there.. the thing is before I got the job my friend who hooked me up with the job told me they were going to pay me $10/hr so I got excited, went over and he hit me with $8.75 I took it anyway.. I just want to know if I should mention the $10 wage that they told me before taking the job, im the only guy getting paid that much and the rest are at $10.. what should I do? Should I mention it?

You could ask politely, but he will most likely say that the $10 wage is for people with more experience in the job and/or they need to pay you slightly less in order to have expanded enough to hire you in the first place (2-tier pay). If you ask nicely without coming off like you are demanding anything, there will be no negative repercussions for trying.
If you don't ask then you won't get.
However, you have to bare in mind that you accepted the job at the offered payscale so you can't go in firing both barrels expecting your boss to role over and accept it.
Assuming you haven't had your 30 day review yet then that would be the time to address it.
All you need to do between now and then is make the effort to settle quickly into your job and be prepared to go the extra mile.
In other words you need to prove that you are worthy and invaluable to the company, therefore worth investing in.
Companies employ enough losers so it's refreshing and valuable to have an employee that seems to care.
I hope that helps.
