How do i import videos from Hitachi Dvd (RAM) Camcorder to Macbook?
I filmed about 1 hour worth of video on an older modeal Hitachi Dvd Camcorder with the mini-dvd re-recordable disks and when i plug the camcorder into my macbook with the usb cable, it recognizes the dvd format but nothing is possible to open. I tried copying the .VRO file to the desktop and other folders, but when i do that, the camera ejects itself. I downloaded several .VRO to .MP4 file converters but every time i try to copy it or drag it somewhere, it ejects. This is driving me crazy, can anyone help?

Step 1: Get an external DVD drive that is drawer loading. I like LaCie

Step 2: Finalize the disc in the camcorder. While that is going on, download and install a DVD ripper to the Mac. I like HandBrake

Step 3: When finalizing in the camcorder is compete, take the disc out of the camcorder and place it in the drawer loading DVD drive.
Step 4: Use HandBrake to rip the video from the DVD. You cannot rip the VOB file form the DVD while it is in the camcorder - you have already discovered this. If the disc will not finalize in the camcorder (because of the kind of blanks used), you will still need the external drive...

You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files http://www.handbrake.fr/ file converter free and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Usually you would import your videos and drop them in to the timeline, add transitions, menus, music, etc. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.
