If you look under the hood and you see large orange cables on the driver's side of the car, it is a hybrid.
If you see anything on the car that says hybrid, it is a hybrid.
If you see a cover under the hood that says IMA, you have a hybrid.
If you see a meter on the dash that says battery charge, you have a hybrid
Honda to help with gas mileage uses a smaller engine on the hybrid. Because the engine is smaller, it doesn't have a lot of pep. To increase pep, there is an electric motor that helps get the car moving. When you are braking or cruising, the motor acts as a generator and recharges the hybrid battery. There is no plug to plug in this vehicle to a wall outlet.
It seems quite unbelievable that you'd buy a car long-distance and not even know what it was, but here are some tips to find out:
1) Does it have a massive electric motor between the engine and transmission?
2) Does the title and/or owner's manual state that it is a hybrid?
3) Did you pay a lot more for it than you would have for a gasoline-only Civic?
4) Does it have the hybrid-only air dam and model-specific alloy wheels (shown in photo below)?
5) Does the logo on the trunk lid say "Civic Hybrid"?
All of these will be clues to help you determine if your Honda Civic is a hybrid vehicle or not. Good luck.
Well, I believe the dead giveaway was if you had to plug it in. Look up the model or simply call a dealership. I wonder if you know what a hybrid car is? It is a vehicle that utilizes both gasoline to operate and electricity. It has dual power to run the vehicle. And you can switch from gas usage to electricity to save fuel.
