I'm 16 and finally got my license. My dad bought me a car for my 16th bday in California. We drove the car from there to Nebraska, where I live. I took the road test and passed. I was wondering how I would register a car that is from out of state. My dad is leaving tomorrow and I don't have the title of the car. The DMV is closed tomorrow and I have to register my car before school starts so I can get parking. Would I be able to get the title of the car and register it without him? Please help me!

You MUST have the title to the car before you drive it one inch. You must have the title in your name before you can get license plates for (register) it. Once you have the title (properly filled out by the seller), simply take it to the Nebraska DMV and get a new title and plates. Don't forget to get it insured.
He needs to sign the back of the title that transfers ownership and give it to you. Without a title registration is next to impossible as this is how they prevent stolen cars from being registered.
you should have got the title when you bought the car
