I was having work done on my car and it was taking a very long time, and ik moved to another state while it was being worked on. now it is finished and i need to transport it here. Ive had the title in my name for over a year, can i still get temp tags just to transport it? i can get it insured but not tagged before i get it to my town. What should i do?>
Update:EDIT: I cannot afford to have it transferred, i only need advice on how to properly drive it back to my home.

go online under automotive transporters and start clicking the links. You will find websites that will rate the businesses that are out there that do this kind of job. As long as the vehicle is either off the highway and on a flatbed or in a box transporter you should not need the plates. Getting insurance is a good idea and you need someone at the other end who can verify any damage before shipping. Someone needs to sign the paperwork and then again you sigh after inspecting the vehicle. It arrives a lot cleaner if you specify enclosed trailer. And if the dates are a little flexible the price may be lower as well.
Hi there,
If the title is still under your name, you should have no problem in getting temp tags. You should go to a dmv or tag office and request one.
Usually temp tags expire in 30 days, which is more than enough time to take it back home.
Wish you the best of luck!
