How do i uninstall realtek high definition audio driver?

got a eee pc 2g surf running windows xp and i want to uninstall the sound driver because for some reason its taking up over a gb of space... whenever i go to uninstall it in add/remove program i get an error saying:

i understand that i will have no sound.... and not having enough space is not the issue.... i just want to know how to get rid of it because obviously this driver is messed up as the driver on the official web site is only around 80 mb. and its showing up a 1200 mb
