Hot wiring a car is simply bypassing the ignition switch to start the car without a key. This will not work on newer cars because the power train control module must read a digital code from the chip embedded into the key before it will turn on the engine control functions.
Really, unlike the old days when you could just go behind the dash and touch a couple of wires together, today you have to tear up the steering column and rip out the key plug. They don't make it easy any more -- fortunately.
