I don't even know what I want to write about, well I kind of do.. but it's not very clear to me yet. Should I use a dictionary? Any ideas on how to start? :)
The best advice I ever heard on how to write, was to just simply write. Write ideas, notes, anything that comes to mind. Keep a little notebook with you, to write down things on the go
Start with a genre - mystery, action, romance, science fiction... they can be a combination of genre's too.
Then you need a story, or at least a situation. If your character's are strong enough they can often write the story for you, but having an overarching narrative is still important.
Characters. You may have some characters you want to use in mind before you even come up with the genre, but you do need to have a nice well rounded cast. Don't just make a protagonist and a love interest and then make everyone else two-dimensional.
A book is a large collection of words. You just need to write them (pen, paper, computer etc - all good).
On a more serious note, a thesaurus is more useful than a dictionary - avoid repetitiveness with words. A dictionary is more useful when reading a book, not writing one.

It's the best way I've ever found to write a book :) I've written two (still editing though)
just start writing down anything that comes to mind order dosen't matter. then fill in the other stuff as you think of it
