It tastes of fish. You either love it or hate it-same as with marmite which you either love or hate.I would recommend to taste it if you haven't.I love it.Especially on white bread buttered and little caviar spread on the top.Make them miniature because it is very expensive .It would be a shame to waste it in case you don't like it!
It is not an easy taste to describe. The best I can do is say it sort of tastes like the sea, salty but really good with grand texture. I usually treat myself to a tiny jar at New Years to celebrate. I believe I paid about $80 this jar and to me it is worth it. I don't spend much on treats for myself, but on New Years it is always Champagne (actually Sparkling Wine) and beluga or seruga caviar.
