I feel like a complete slacker reading the above answers... when I'm writing a first draft, I aim for 500 words a day. I actually express it as 3,500 words per week, because my life isn't sufficiently predictable that I can spend an hour writing every day (which is how long it takes me to write 500 words when I put my mind to it).
Even though I do want to get published, writing for me is first and foremost a hobby. That's why I don't write every day. Perhaps, like right now, I don't write for weeks at a time.
When I do, I write between 5,000-10,000 words a day. When I'm writing all day, of course it's more, but it's rare that I write all day anyway.
